Welcome to Sandy Community Website.
It is with regret, that after 15 years of being online and serving the local community, as well as informing the wider world about our hometown of Sandy in Bedfordshire, that active pages on the site will no longer be updated.
Over the years, (since 1999), we have provided local informatio]n about community groups & organizations in and around Sandy and details of their activities & events. However, with the advent of social networking - Twitter and Facebook etc., the need for our site has reduced, with local information being out there and available in other formats.
The site will remain online but we will not be maintaining pages which require constant updating. Information currently supplied is up to date as at 1st October 2014. By the end of 2014, we will only have 'static information on the site, i.e. that which does not need changing or updating but, will continue to provide local news & information through our involvement with Facebook & Twitter. Adverts & Sponsorship will remain in place on our Home page but we will not be accepting any new local instructions with immediate effect.
Our decision to reduce maintenance was not taken lightly but we are sure that you will appreciate the maintaining nearly 100 pages is no mean feat! It is the administration involved that is no longer viable. Our hosts, mprc Web Services, have been generous with their time and facilities but we feel that we should not abuse this generosity.
We are however active on our blog site Sandy Beds Blog where you can air your views about what's going on in Sandy and the local area.
Thanks to everyone for their support over the last 15 years and we hope that you have enjoyed visiting this site.
We are showing below, our Facebook page feed so that you can follow our posts. There is no requirement to join Facebook in order to read them, although of course in order to post comments or 'like' particular posts then of course you will need to join up. (If you are at all nervous about taking this step, we can give assurance that, as long as you keep your privacy settings to a good level and only become friends with people you know, then you won't go too far wrong. It's also a good way to keep in touch with friends & family who may be living too far away to easily visit in person).
Scroll down the middle of the feed to see all the stories and click on one to read more.
