(Effective from April 1st 2009 Bedfordshire County Council has been replaced by two new Unitary authorities: Central Bedfordshire, formed from the amalgamation of Mid Bedfordshire & South Bedfordshire District Councils, and Bedford, which has emerged from the existing Bedford Borough Council. All the responsibilities previously held by Bedfordshire CC are now undertaken by the two new Unitary authorities. There is no change to Luton, which has been a Unitary authority for several years.) |
